Absolutely. Your vehicle will be transported fully insured with a two hundred dollar deductible for the duration of your transport.
- I have a few personal belongings. Can I ship them along with my vehicle?
You will be permitted to transport a specified amount of personal belongings, 200lb maximum. If you overload your car, you may have to pay an additional fee based upon weight. Also, the personal belongings in the vehicle will not be insured during transport. Please check with your home owner's insurance for items covered under your policy.
- How long does it take to transport my vehicle?
The most important issue for people to understand about the process of car shipping is that this industry is not like FedEx or even the Postal Service. Pick-up and delivery dates are estimates, they are not guarantees. Unforeseen problems from mechanical breakdown, traffic, and weather all contribute to delays. Ironically, the biggest delays for vehicle shipping is typically caused by our own customers. Customers fail to show up on time, try to arrange pick-up or drop off locations at the last minute, etc. Patience is required, and we want to get your vehicle to you as soon as you do. Make sure you have realistic expectations; normally it takes under 7 days to ship your car from NY to FL.
- Selecting an Auto Shipping Method: Open or Enclosed
We specialize in open air carriers. Open trailers are either partially or fully exposed to the elements. There are many different types of open trailers, ranging from small two car carriers to the large 10 car carriers that you often see on the interstate. Enclosed trailers are protected from elements, and your vehicle is basically shipped in a mobile garage. Having your vehicle shipped enclosed is typically 50% premium over having it shipped on an open trailer. Most cars can be shipped either on an open trailer or in an enclosed trailer, it all depends on what you want to spend.
- Door-to-Door, Term-to-Term, what does it mean?
Door-to-Door does not always mean a truck will be able to pull up to your front door. Door-to-Door means that the truck driver will always get as close to your specified pick-up or delivery spot as he can legally and safely get. Large towns and cities often restrict large trucks and prohibit them from entering into some residential areas. Auto shipping trucks can be up to 80 feet long, and drivers will need lots of room to maneuver and turn around. When access to your residence is restricted by narrow streets, low hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask that you meet the truck at a large parking lot nearby, such as a grocery store, school, or shopping mall. Term-to-Term simply means bringing your vehicle to us at our Kings Park facility and you picking up your vehicle at a certified towing facility in Florida. See our list of terminals.
- How far in advance should I schedule the transport of my vehicle?
We recommend that you schedule your move as soon as possible to insure that your car is moved within the time frame which best meets your schedule. Traditionally, we are able to have a truck assigned and on its way to pick up your vehicle 1 to 7 days from the date the vehicle is ready to be shipped. If your vehicle is available for pick-up immediately, we will work with you on getting your vehicle scheduled as close to the preferred date as possible. It is helpful when orders are submitted 2 to 4 weeks in advance of the available date. Scheduling your order in advance is helpful (however not necessary) for successful relocation.
- How much will it cost to ship my vehicle?
Our Transport Specialists are trained to ask the right questions which pertain to your move. They will review your quote request so we can accurately price your transport.
Pricing your transport is determined by a few factors: the origin, destination, vehicle size, and the level of service desired. These all play a part in how your vehicle is quoted. Quoting a competitive price can be complicated. We need to make sure we know what you want to do: Door-to-Door or Terminal-to-Terminal. Once we have gathered all this information, we can accurately quote you a price that fits your budget.
- How do I pay for services?
We only need a deposit to start your shipment. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. The balance should be paid the week of shipment. You may make payment in full, with a credit card, at the time the order is placed if it is more convenient for you.
- What happens if I'm not available when the truck comes to pick up or deliver the vehicle?
We try to keep each customer well-informed during the entire shipping process. We instruct the drivers to call the customer 12 to 24 hours in advance of pick up or delivery to establish a more accurate estimated time of arrival and to work out specific directions. We ask that you make yourself as avialable as possible. Please do not take off work or hang around your home until you speak with the driver.
In the event you are not able to release or take possession of your vehicle, you may appoint anyone to do this task. We ask that you supply us with the proper information for contact in this situation.
- What happens if my vehicle shows up with damage?
In the instance of your vehicle arriving with damage, there are a few steps that you must make sure you follow in order to file your claim. You have to make sure that the carrier understands that there is damage done to the vehicle and all damage must be noted on the inspection report. If the damage is not noted on the final inspection report, there will be no claim. You will then be required to receive two estimates and digital pictures on the damages and e-mail them to us. We will be responsible for the claim and will take the next steps in order to get you your money.
